Venue Profile: The Priest House, Derbyshire

The team recently visited The Priest House in Derbyshire. Read the venue profile below:

Built around a mill tower on the banks of the River Trent in Derbyshire, The Priest House sits in a peaceful and idyllic setting and can host conferences, training and private dining events for up to 150 delegates.

Situated in Castle Donnington just off the M1 at junction 24A, the venue is very easy to find. It is just 4 miles from East Midlands airport (close but not close enough to be noisy!) and Long Eaton and East Midlands Parkway train stations are just 8 miles away.

First Impressions

A great first impression with a long drive down a country lane to arrive at the venue which has its original water mill wheels at the front.

The Priest House has lots of exciting plans for refurbishment and is hoping to introduce a spa on-site soon.

Hosting up to 150 delegates, the venue has 7 flexible meeting rooms which are split over two floors, but the majority are close together on the ground floor. The Garden Suite was our favorite room – traditional in character and charm, with lots of natural daylight and access to a private outdoor terrace which is ideal for refreshment breaks.

The meeting rooms, some of which are modern whilst others are more traditional, can also be utilised for private dining and have lovely views over the grounds.

Standard projector, screen and flipcharts are included in the day delegate packages. Most of the equipment is portable meaning the layout can be flexible. Free WiFi is also available throughout.

There are 42 bedrooms ranging from main house to deluxe and suites. For something a bit different, the cottage bedrooms are situated a short walk from the main hotel, over a small bridge crossing a tributary of the River Trent.

Outside there is plenty of space for team building activities.

Tea/coffee and refreshments are available for delegates throughout the day, and there are many different lunch options which can be served either in the restaurant or as a working lunch in the meeting room. We had dinner in the bar and the food was lovely – a great variety of options and really good portion sizes.

Everyone was really friendly and attentive. We were offered drinks on arrival after our journey and nothing was too much trouble throughout. Our host for the evening, Michelle, was also very knowledgeable about the history of the property and plans for the future.
